FAQ

Questions about capture, sharing, and teams.

Getting started

Is this an AI detector or a notary?

No. Shuttermark proves that a JPEG still matches a hardware-backed signature. It does not detect AI and does not legally notarize a scene.

Do I need an account to take a signed photo?

No. Local signed capture works in the Android app without a Team workspace. Pro and Team add cloud filing and portal seats.

Field

Do I have to put every photo in a project or task?

No. Evidence is first-class. Projects, tasks, references, tags, and descriptions are optional context.

What if I am underground or offline?

Signing is local. Upload later if you use cloud backup. Verification of a shared original does not need the capturing phone to be online.

Sharing

Why does a chat preview fail verification?

Messaging apps recompress JPEGs and often strip metadata. Share the original file from Shuttermark or Files.

Who can verify?

Anyone with the original JPEG can use the public verifier. They do not need the capturing account.

Teams

What happens when storage or packages run out?

Existing evidence stays. The billable cloud operation pauses unless you buy the matching add-on or have explicitly accepted metered billing. Local signed capture is never blocked.

How are Android devices and portal seats counted?

Pro allows two active Android devices; a third activation revokes the oldest. Team and Business pool one Android slot per paid seat, plus billable extras. Team includes one portal user and Business includes three. Browser sessions do not consume Android slots.

What are add-on prices?

Storage is $5 per 25 GB per month. Package packs are 25/$3, 100/$8, 500/$25, and 2,000/$75. Extra Team or Business seats are $12/month. Enterprise starts at $499/month and is custom-quoted.
